“I have no idea,” is not a phrase you’ll hear from me as I’m always bursting with new ideas. And sometimes those new ideas need to be brought into reality, like I did with this softly, romantic boudoir session at my Middelburg studio where I finally found a use for a huge bag of ostrich feathers I was gifted.
Most couples opt for an outdoor session when it comes to chronicling their love story, but this couple wanted something different, something with a touch of drama and class. For their session I bought the outside inside by using studio lighting to mimic natural bright sunshine for an unique look.
A birthday is always the perfect reason to book a session, especially if it’s a milestone birthday like turning 30. I recently met up with Jo-landri in Middelburg to capture her just being the only person she needs to be- herself; and all while celebrating her turning 30 this February.
Sometimes you just have to get a bit weird and a bit silly to have yourself a ton of fun. And that’s what Larochelle and Wayne did with me in my Middelburg studio recently by hopping on the awkward couples portrait trend. The cringe is intentional.
What makes a beautiful photo; is it in throwing as much stuff into the frame as possible? Nope. It’s simply in matching the right lighting and colour to the personality of the person you’re photographing.
Admittedly this session started off completely different with edgy gelled lighting but it just didn’t fit Lene’s beautifully vibrant personality. So we switched it up to create a touch of soft, yet brilliant, sunshine in my Middelburg studio.
