Photography has been a part of my life for over ten years, and of those ten, my profession for four years. When I first started to make the switch from still life to portraiture, I bought a set of speedlights and umbrellas and just fell in love with artificial light. There was so much more room for creativity when you have full control over the light falling over a scene or person; more so than relying on the sun and a reflector. It may be four years on, but that creative control hasn’t changed, just my understanding and skills have.
However, for some reason there seems to be this misconception that natural light is ‘magical’ with studio portraits apparently lacking that. It may be that people think studio and have flashbacks to the horrors of flat light, white backgrounds and people wearing matching denims and white shirts, or that people worry about feeling out of their comfort zone being photographed in studio. Whatever the reason, I’m not letting my dreams of creating beautiful studio portraits be dashed. I want real everyday people to see that being photographed in studio is not just for celebs and models; that anyone can feel comfortable in front of the camera and bring out their inner model to create timeless portraits.
In order to take the first steps in making this dream a reality, I’m going to need your help. I want to photograph real people in studio and create elegant photos they, and their loved ones, will absolutely treasure. In order to do this I will be offering R1000 complimentary gift vouchers for this December to be used for studio sessions.
If you would love to snap up one of these gift vouchers at absolutely no cost to you, all you have to do is email firstname.lastname@example.org and tell me why you’d love a complimentary studio session. This offer is open to everyone as every single person deserves to feel special and shown how gorgeous they actually are.
